Whether you are a new believer in Jesus or you have decades of experience walking with God, this book will help catalyze a greater depth of intimacy with God and a call to obedience in living a transformed life.
Maturity is not automatic. We all age at the same rate, but growing in spiritually maturity is not a guarantee. Growing Tall while Going Low: The Humble Pursuit of Spiritual Maturity, aims to launch people into a life-long journey toward maturity. The first section of the book advances the thesis that the path toward maturity is paved in humility, then weaves the theme of humility into several areas of personal development. Chapters address relatable topics and illustrate how humility is integral to developing maturity in each area. Topics covered include emotional competence, hearing from God, sharing God’s messages with others, personal holiness, relational maturity, and discipleship. Thoroughly pastoral, chapters routinely call readers to embody time-tested perspectives and practices in order to grow into Christlikeness, the full measure of maturity. Rather than take a “seven-easy-steps” approach, this book draws on examples from Scripture, testimonies from the authors, teachings from other trusted Christian leaders, contemporary scholarship, cultural observation, and appeals to common experiences to call for reflection and encourage new patterns for action. Readers will find the book relatable and invitational without sacrificing depth and sound biblical exposition. Our ideal audience is someone eager to take ownership of their faith and who wants to grow in their relationships with God and with others.
“Adam Reed’s Growing Tall While Going Low offers a refreshing perspective: true spiritual maturity comes through humility, not achievement. Through compelling storytelling and biblical wisdom, this book dismantles our cultural obsession with self-promotion and invites us into the transformative power of going low. Each chapter provides practical guidance for cultivating Christlikeness, from hearing God's voice to reproducing our faith in others through discipleship. This isn't another self-help manual; it's a call to daily surrender that leads to lasting transformation. A must-read for anyone longing to look more like Jesus.”

“Pastor Adam Reed’s book, Growing Tall While Going Low, meets an important need in the modern church. The church is desperate for mature Christians and this book gives a beautiful invitation into and road map for Christlike maturity! As I read Adam’s book, I found myself longing to receive more of the love of Jesus and the desire to pour more love back onto Him. This type of truly experiential relationship is the key to Christian growth. In this hour we need people who are both deeply in love with Jesus and beautifully reflect His Character. I believe this book is going to greatly aide many on that journey!”
